Our Opinion: Starting to pay more attention

You can tell by the crowds, people are starting to figure it out.

Sure, high school football in Warren County has always been well-attended by fans. And, by fans, we mean people who aren’t just parents or grandparents, brothers or sisters.

We’ve noticed recently, going back a few seasons, that the girls are getting more attention, and rightly so.

Warren’s softball and volleyball teams both advanced to their District 10 championship games last school year, and the places were packed.

Going back to her freshman season, Margo Loutzenhiser’s Lady Dragons won the school’s first district title in girls basketball.

Now, Loutzenhhiser is a senior and has committed to Gannon University.

Lydia Latimer just committed to Division I Cleveland State for volleyball.

There are several softball players capable of the next level if they want it bad enough.

You can help make that happen. And they’re worth watching.

Warren senior Ellie Lobdell said it well Tuesday night: “When the crowd’s like that, it makes us play better.”

These fans deserve a kudos themselves for helping these standouts to, well, stand out.
