Our Opinion: Their creation

For a fleeting second or two, it might have seemed possible to feel sorry for House of Representatives Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif.

Or not. Pelosi’s problem Monday was of her own making.

During an appearance in her home district, San Francisco, on Monday, Pelosi and a couple of other Democrat lawmakers were attempting to call for enactment of the DREAM Act. Its purpose is to open pathways whereby illegal immigrants, if brought here as children by their parents, can avoid deportation.

But Pelosi had barely begun speaking when a group of demonstrators shouted her down. They accused her of wishing to deport all illegal immigrants.

“You don’t know what you’re talking about,” Pelosi snapped, before leaving.

No, they don’t. But Pelosi was a victim of the unthinking “resist” movement she and other liberals promoted. They have unleashed something of a monster. It seems only just for them to suffer at the hands of their creation.
