Our Opinion: Justice?

Army Pvt. Chelsea Manning, released from prison Wednesday under a clemency order signed by former President Barack Obama, will be eligible for various benefits including military health care, at least for a time, the Army has revealed.

Manning, formerly known as Bradley Manning, was convicted in 2013 of leaking military secrets that probably helped our country’s many enemies. She served just a small part of her 35-year sentence.

Her benefits will continue at least until the military considers her appeal of that sentence.

Why? Manning admitted what she did. And now, the very taxpayers whose security she threatened are paying for her benefits.

Is this what passes for justice these days?
