A letter worth reading

Dear Editor,

I recently had the good fortune to read a letter that was sent to a concerned citizen who was addressing illegal immigration at the time.

The letter was dated May 12th, 2000 and was written on United States Senate stationary. Unfortunately, the name of the person who received this letter was blackened out as so much is these days. I would like to offer this letter to the readers of the Warren Times Observer at this time.

Dear xxxxxxxxxxxxx,

Thank you for contacting me to express your concerns about the issues of illegal immigration into the United States. I believe it is imperative that we enforce and strengthen existing immigration laws to prevent illegal immigration from entering this country.

Last year in the House of Representatives, I supported the “Criminal Alien Deportation Involvement Act” which would have reduced the delay involved in the deportation of criminal aliens. In addition, I cosponsored the “Immigration and Naturalization Services Restructuring Act ( H.R. 4363 ). This legislation would have given the Immigration and Naturalization Services the resources to handle the responsibilities of border control and enforcement, and the traditional function of support services.

You can be certain that in the Senate, I will continue to fight for tougher measures to reduce the numbers of illegal immigrants entering this country.

Sincerely,

Charles E. Schumer

United States Senate

This person is now in favor of allowing open borders and to allow the 12 million illegals presently in the United States to continue to serve as citizens with the freedoms of those born within our borders. A “Hypocrite” of the finest working in Washington for you and me, and we wonder why nothing gets done after THEY get our vote. Makes me want to throw up!

Richard Lowe,

Warren
