Knowing full well that the first Muslim representative was being sworn into the PA House, Rep. Stephanie Borowicz (clearly not a “representative”) went off on an Evangelical Christian tirade during an opening prayer. She was immediately condemned by her colleagues for her disrespectful, intolerant rant.
This is exactly why we have the separation of church and state, to prevent people that think their religion should be controlling from putting that desire into action.
If elected officials can’t set aside their own personal beliefs and represent ALL their constituents, then they should resign.
I fully support House Resolution 184 that would require anyone giving the opening invocation to do it with respect to all belief systems, or lack thereof, and to reflect mutual human respect and tolerance for all citizens.
