Cartoon

Dear Editor,

I have expressed to my family, friends, and the editor of WTO how much I like the paper’s new format of featuring more “Human Interest Stories” and Local History. However, I must also register my disappointment with the “political” cartoon that appeared in the Saturday May 9th edition. Why would a hometown paper publish such a disgusting attempt at humor? Do you consider this cartoon suitable for young readers? I don’t!

I know a lot of people don’t like Trump. I get that, but does that mean the rest of us have to settle for the vulgar language, gestures, and hateful dreams of celebrities? It started with Madonna and her thoughts of “blowing up the White House”. Who would think, let alone express in public, something so dangerous? Then, we have Bill Maher who is wishing and hoping that our booming economy “tanks” so we can get rid of Trump.

How is that for loving your fellow man who happens to work for a living? The latest example of celebrity role-model wisdom comes from Robert DeNiro who repeated many times his favorite swear-word with the name“Trump” in greeting those who attended the once admired Tony Awards. Why would anyone rely on the political wisdom of people who pretend to be someone else for a living–sometimes referred to as “acting”?

It is my hope that WTO will not fall into the trap set by the hysterical “Trump Hate”movement. Remember your audience is made up of intelligent, descent, honest, hardworking, and God-Fearing country folks.

Thank You,
