Readers Speak

Better students of our motives

Dear Editor,

I am grateful for this forum where readers can openly and freely share opinions, and find the variety interesting. There is also opportunity to respond in the paper or, if one knows the party, in person. Debating the points can be profitable.

But a personal attack in a public forum tarnishes the purpose. While politicians come to expect so much of it, opinionated lay people who take the trouble to write a letter should be spared. And imagining the attitude behind the words is a mistake. Only God knows all the details of a life and thought and intents of the heart. An applicable aside: I Can Only Imagine – currently in theaters – offers the example of the redemption Christ offers, and the Holy Spirit increasingly grants eternal perspective.

Psychologists tell us that these qualities which we most dislike in others are frequently ones we overlook in ourselves. May God make us all better students of our motives.

Sincerely,

Liz Farnsworth,

Drive right, pass left

Dear Editor,

Warren Times viewers: please DRIVE RIGHT, PASS LEFT. When driving on any four-lane road and you have a vehicle behind you, please be polite and merge right so they can pass you. Although it is legal for you to drive in the left lane on our tow four lane highways because they are “limited access highways,” it is dangerous for traffic to pass you on the right side because you have a blind spot that you cannot see in your mirror or by looking to the right. When traffic passes you on the right they risk you turning into them should you decide to change lanes while they are in your blind spot at your right rear side. Please be a polite driver and DRIVE RIGHT, PASS LEFT on all four lane roads.

Thank you and please share this,

PA gun control

Dear Editor,

Did you know that under Pennsylvania law (058 Pa. Code 141.22.a2), it is illegal when hunting to have more than two rounds in your magazine and one round in your chamber?

So, why do we give more chance of survival to a squirrel, rabbit, pheasant, grouse, turkey and deer than we do to human beings?

Allan Gustafson,

Warren

The environment

Dear Editor,

The American Gas Association, in conjunction with other professional associations, pay for advertisements in multifarious media to express their support to protect our environment. Unfortunately, the current Trump EPA director is rescinding air, water, and land environmental protection from further degradation. Need I say more ?

Sincerely,

M.J. Shanshala,

Warren

Media + Congress = Insanity

Dear Editor,

Not only do most social media operations rely on data mining for their profits and collect information about users while selling it to marketing firms, it was not President Trump who weaponized social media first. That would be Obama the Magnificent when he had the complete support of all the social media & 90 plus % of the news outlets. We now also know that Barry weaponized the entire swamp of intelligence agencies at the end of his time in office, if not earlier, thereby creating the Treasonous behavior of Congress and Clinton/Obama supporters.

Why is it that there is no uproar about the 260-plus accusations of inappropriate behavior , by members of both houses of our Congress. They were paid off with our tax dollars to the accusers. This is a true scandal that needs exposed before mid-terms. We need to know how much was paid for what behavior. Due to this scandal and the fact that they passed a 2,200-page octopus bill , WITHOUT READING IT, they are in violation of their oath of office.

Please research and publish Obama’s weaponization of social media in 2008 & 2012. The news media complimented him openly for doing exactly that and now they attack Trump for learning from Barry. It’s there to see.

Congress is the problem.

Term limits & transparency.

Jeffrey L. Carlson,

Warren

PS. We need a March on Congress Rally ASAP locally & nationally, demanding accountability and transparency over their misuse of tax $$ (used as hush money to cover their butts from accusers), and their failure to do their job. Trump may have had consensual relationships, BUT NOT inappropriate sexual abuse or other unacceptable behavior as members of both houses of Congress have been accused of over 260 times. Paid for with our taxes. OUTRAGEOUS, isn’t IT ?
