Trump’s Acres

Dear Editor,

A year has passed since I happened to catch a rerun of “Green Acres.” At that time, I had already known I couldn’t take Mr. Trump seriously. The theme song and opening credits from “Green Acres” tell you where the country is going. From the beginning of the episode, I noticed all the similarities between Donald J. Trump and Oliver Wendell Douglas. Their names alone have eminence and they both have a high regard for the land and know how to use it productively. Both men are well educated with ties to New York City, are well-groomed and manicured, work in tailored suits, travel in luxury and have all the latest technology. Mr. Trump has Twitter and Mr. Douglas had his telephone pole. Both men have hot babes for wives, both native to Central European and former Soviet satellite countries. Mr. Douglas firmly believes in Hooterville and Mr. Trump believes in Hooters.

Unlike Mr. Trump’s revolving door of staffers, Mr. Douglas has no problem with his Cabinet. Oliver Wendell Douglas would have Eb as Vice President, Mr. Haney as Secretary of State, Arnold Ziffle as Press Secretary, Mr. Kimball as Bodine as Secretary of Education, Charly the Engineer would of course be Secretary of Transportation, Jed Clampett as Secretary of Homeland Security, Sam Drucker as Secretary of Commerce, and Uncle Joe as Secretary of Labor, etc. It’s hard to believe that so many delusional people voted for Trump. I, personally, think that half of them voted to just see more of Melania. A person in his power cannot be so wishy-washy on the many issues that affect our country. For those millennials that don’t know what I’m talking about, put down your d*#$ cell phones and watch some good wholesome old time television.

In closing, I pray for the athletes in the upcoming Olympics hosted in South Korea. May they be safe while egomaniac rulers play Button vs. Button to find out whose is larger.

Sincerely,

James P. McDunn,

Warren
