NO

Dear Editor,

“I will eliminate two old regulations for every new regulation” was the GOP candidate’s campaign promise, and such was boasted as one of his major accomplishments in the State of the Union Speech.

In February 2017, the President signed the order to eliminate Obama’s Stream Protection legislation, allowing coal companies to dump mining debris in streams.

One doesn’t have to be a fervent environmentalist to know this is wrong.

In October 2017, the President signed Congress’ bill which overturned Obama’s “internet privacy regulation” that required internet service providers to get explicit permission from customers before sharing their browsing history with other companies.

This “deregulation” benefits Verizon, Comcast, and other companies as they can now exploit this personal information.

There are costs to eliminating regulations.

Eliminating regulations to streamline the process, good. Eliminating regulations that have outlived their purposes and time, also good. Eliminating regulations that were poorly designed, great. Eliminating regulations that benefit corporations, by abusing our environment or exploiting Americans, NO.

Don Scott,

Warren
