Operation Christmas Child

Dear Editor,

Watching the evening news, it’s all too easy to be discouraged by what is going on in this country and around the world. Then along comes National Collection Week for Operation Christmas Child shoe boxes and we receive 8,349 of boxes, 2,640 from the Warren area. Amazing!!

It’s even more amazing when I think of the many ways the folks of Warren County give and give and give. Houston, Florida, Puerto Rico, the Salvation Army, Toys for Tots, Warren Gives, the United Fund and more have been recipients of your generosity.

The Warren Times Observer and Atlantic Broadband did a great job of spreading the word about National Collection Week.

The volunteers of The Toy Shoppe provided countless wooden toys, including yo-yos that are sure to bring smiles to the faces of the children when they open their boxes.

The congregation of Pleasant Community Church put in many hours sorting items, counting, painting, packing, loading cartons, plus donating over $3,000 towards shipping costs. Also, volunteers from St. John’s Lutheran and Missionary Alliance churches helped with loading the trailers. Thanks to all!!

There is no place else I would rather claim as my home town than Warren, PA. Thank you all for the blessings 8,349 children have coming their way. May they feel your love and prayers the moment they open their shoe box.

Sincerely,

Patti A, Seth,
