Creating Fair Voting Districts

To the Editor,

I love the way this newspaper provides great print and picture coverage of local events. I’m counting on similar coverage for two side-by-side local events this week that relate to an issue of state and national importance: Creating fair voting districts.

The first takes place at 6 pm this Tuesday, June 6, on the Courthouse steps. It’s a Rally for Fair Districts and is sponsored by Indivisible Warren PA. Folks rallying for that cause will then walk to the Warren Public Library where the League of Women Voters of Warren County hosts a program from 6:30 – 7:45 pm on that same issue.

Marnie Sullivan will speak at both gatherings which are open to the public. She represents FairDistrictsPA (FDPA), a non-partisan coalition of citizens and organizations working to reform redistricting rules. The goal is to promote bills in the PA Legislature that will lead to an impartial, transparent, and accountable process of establishing voting districts based upon the 2020 census.

The public is welcome and encouraged to attend both the Indivisible Rally and the League Program. Together we will learn what action FDPA recommends for moving Pennsylvania out of the ranks of the most Gerrymandered states. Together we can then choose to become involved with making fair redistricting a reality.
