A couple things
Dear Editor,
This is about common sense and logic. First I would like to say that I do know that seatbelts can protect you from some injuries and death and I use my seatbelts. Anyone with common sense and the desire to live should also wear them. The logic part is the enforcement of the seat belt law, “Click it or Ticket”. A motorist operating a 3/4 ton pickup at ten miles per hour can be pulled over and be issued at citation for not wearing his/her seat belt as a string of motorcycles go by. A motor cycle can be legally operated with the operator wearing shorts and glasses. No shoes, shirt, helmet or other protective wear is necessary. Where is the logic? If a biker has “the right” to operate on the highway without any protection why does a person in a vehicle get subjected to a fine when he has four wheels, doors and a roof for protection? And what about Amish buggies? Why aren’t they then required to have seat belts? They are involved in accidents also, being struck at high speeds by motor vehicles.
Again, common sense and logic. A Warren resident has a dog and takes it for a walk. She/he is a good citizen and carries along a plastic bag to clean up after his dog. As he is bent over picking up the little gift package his dog deposited he hears the sound of horse shoes on the pavement and looks up to see an Amish buggy going by and the horse depositing a large dump in the middle of the road. Do they stop to clean it up? No way. Where is the fairness here? Where is the logic? Why are some people special that they don’t have to clean up their messes?
Lou Dussia,
Warren
