Dear Editor,

It seems to me that news reporting tends to focus on negative events. It would seem that there is no good news to be had. I am happy to report that there is good news to be had. I was witness to one such event. On Tuesday the Tidioute Volunteer Fire Department responded to my residence as a result of a call by a passer-by. This, on the surface, may not seem to be anything out of the ordinary. What struck me was, that among the firemen who responded were many young men that I new as teens when I was an employee of the school district. These youth have grown to be responsible citizens of their community, volunteering their time to keep their community safe. Some came straight from their places of employment or having just completed a full days work. I suppose that I have been guilty of taking the fire department for granted. Therefore I would like to say thank you, and I am so proud of you. Keep up the good work.

Dorothy Hayes,
