‘Illogical indeed’
Dear Editor:
To begin to refute the sentiments of a recent letter regarding Trump’s immigration policy will be an exercise in futility, but I’m not busy right now. In citing a source such as Gatestone Institute, one must begin with their “leanings,” their agenda that is. Gatestone Institute“… is a New York-based advocacy organization that is tied to neoconservative and other right-wing networks .. “and“…is a clearinghouse for right-wing commentaries,” and thusly will most certainly cast a sky-is-falling bias towards immigration.
The oft-stated fear of terrorists posing as refugees ignores the facts. Home grown terrorists are responsible for terrorist acts in America. There is a two year, or longer, vetting process and not one Syrian, Iraqi, nor Iranian refugee has committed an act of terror in America.
That a terrorist may, one day, infiltrate our borders is, unfortunately, a reality.
But to demonize millions of good people and refuse war-torn refugees a safe place will not stop that terrorist from entering.
Multi-culturaism is not a four letter word. You came from a different culture once and became American. But now that you’re safe, let’s roll up the carpet?
Best regards,
Scott R. Blume,
Warren
