A chance
Dear Editor,
It has finally happened. I never thought I’d be writing a letter to the editor, but after reading Jules Witcover in Friday’s paper I can’t ignore it. In it he criticized President Trump for going to Florida and playing golf with Japan’s Prime Minister Shinzo Abe. He says, and I quote, “Does Trump think being a President is a part-time job?” Mr. Witcover you haven’t been paying attention. President Trump has accomplished more in three weeks in office than some presidents have done in a year (even bringing jobs back before he was in the White House). Did you ever count the times our previous president was on the golf course?
Granted, our choice in November was not what a lot of people wanted, but Trump won, so get over it. Do I like everything that he says and does? No, of course not, but I feel he is trying to do what’s best for America.
I listen to good friends and even some family members condemn him. I was brought up to believe if you can’t say anything nice, don’t say anything. It’s time people stop all the hateful remarks and protests. “Jesus said to Love One Another as I have Loved You.”
Let’s give President Trump a chance as he tries to keep his campaign promises. By working together our country can be great again.
In God I Trust,
Eleanor Johnson,
Russell
