Julius E. Sitka, 82, of Youngsville, passed away February 8, 2019 at the John and Orpha Blair Hospice House in Warren.
He was born July 12, 1936 in Hallettsville, TX, a son to the late Joe and Emma (Kocian) Sitka. Julius had worked at Betts Industries as a welder, retiring from there in 1998. He was a member of St. Luke’s Roman Catholic Church in Youngsville and enjoyed traveling and camping in their 5th wheel. He also enjoyed playing cards, dominoes and golfing.
He is survived by his loving wife Sarah Bosko Sitka, whom he married May 30, 1964 in Huston, TX, 3 daughters, Carie Mitchell and Tina (Terry) Coan, both of Youngsville, and Dawn (Rick) Butcher of Columbus, OH, 2 sisters, Helen Schoener of Victoria, TX and Antonia (James) Brooks of Sublime, TX, a sisterinlaw, Janie Sitka of Sugarland, TX, 4 grandchildren Nicholas and Nathan Coan and Jay and Neal Butcher, a step granddaughter, Felicia Coan, 3 step great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews, including Jan Grey.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by 2 sisters, Virginia Fellers and Dorothy Holcutt and a brother, Billy Joe Sitka.
Friends and family will be received on Monday from 47 pm at the Nelson Funeral Home & Cremation Services in Youngsville. A vigil service will be held there at 3:45 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday at 10 am at St. Luke’s Roman Catholic Church in Youngsville with the Rev. Fr. Richard Tomasone, pastor, as celebrant.
