Jeannine Johnston Caldwell, 84, of Advance, NC, passed away Monday, January 7, 2019, at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home.
She was born January 24, 1934, in Butler County, PA, the daughter of the late Roe and Viola Johnston. She and her four sisters grew up in the countryside near Pleasantville, PA. After graduating from Titusville (PA) High School in 1952, Jeannine continued her education at Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh, PA, and earned her nursing degree in 1956. She had a rewarding, forty-year career as an RN, retiring from Arbor Acres in 1999. In addition to western Pennsylvania, she lived in New Jersey, before moving to Winston-Salem 30 years ago. Jeannine had a lifelong love of golf that was passed down to her from her father and was an accomplished player. She loved her Church, her family, making friends, embroidery, baking cookies and generously sharing her baked goods with others.
Mrs. Caldwell is survived by her husband of 62 years, Bill Caldwell; sons, Burt Caldwell (Diane) of Birmingham, AL and Kent Caldwell (Jill) of Candler, NC; grandsons, Sam Caldwell and Doug Caldwell (Ashley) and their daughter, Collins. She is also survived by three sisters, Sally Frey of Pittsburgh, PA, Roene Nasr of Pacific Grove, CA, and Nancy McFarlane of Hertford, NC. She was preceded in death by one sister, Vianne Whitall of Sacramento, CA.
A celebration of life service will be held at Clemmons Presbyterian Church, Clemmons, NC on Saturday, January 19, 2019, at 3:00 PM.
