Thomas Carr

Thomas W. Carr, 71, of Warren, passed away on Wednesday, October 31, 2018 at the Snyder Memorial Home in Marienville.

Tom was born March 5, 1947 in Jamestown, N.Y., a son to the late John J. and Anna Abraham Carr. Tom graduated from Youngsville High School, and then the University of Pittsburgh with a pharmaceutical degree. He also attended Washington & Jefferson University in preparation for his pharmaceutical degree.

Tom was a member of over 50 years of the Free and Accepted Masons.: Farrah Grotto, Occidental Chapter #235, Occident Council No 41, Stillwater Lodge No 547, F & A.M., and Zem Zem Shrine in Erie. He held many offices including Master and Trustee at the Stillwater Lodge and was very active over time. He was instrumental in the stone monument, and flag pole in Stillwater Lodge, in Youngsville. He had many brothers, and lifelong great friends.

Tom was a member of 1787 Society of the University of Pittsburgh, and continues to receive lovely birthday gifts each year! Tom was a Red Cross blood donor, beginning while a student at W&J College. Always a giving, caring man.

He was also a long time member of Sugar Grove United Methodist Church; holding different positions in spreading the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

Tom was a much loved Pharmacist in the TriState Area for over 40 years. His coworkers and so many of his patients loved Tom. Tom was very involved in the Pa. Pharmaceutical Association for many years.

Tom’s brother Dennis and wife Gloria Carr were always, loving, supportive and caring for Tom.

Tom was always working to provide for his children and their mother Priscilla. Each of his 5 children were able to attend the colleges of their choosing, due to Tom working 1216 hour days for numerous years. He would leave 1 job and drive to another also, or work late, constantly, if they were short of help or busy. Always giving to others.

Tom also went to Mexico, to treat hundreds of people with vaccinations, he loved it and mentioned it many times over time. He often wore his wool poncho, from Mexico in our home.

Rebecca and Tom were reunited in 2014, after being friends since they were 8 and 15 years old. Their best friends were brother and sister. At one point in their lives they were employed together in the same hospital. When Tom and Rebecca ran into each other in a chance meeting at their banks; they made a plan to get together for breakfast. God’s plan for them was perfect and they fell deeply in love with one another over breakfast. The following year they were married and began taking care of each other.

“I have waited for you my entire life!”

It was heart breaking when we received Tom’s diagnosis of Advanced Vascular Dementia 6 months later. Tom had previously had 9 strokes, but he did not remember. This horrible disease robbed Tom of so much, it was incredibly sad. But thru it all each day was filled with laughter, love, hugs and kisses.

Tom will be deeply missed by all of those who loved him so much.

Tom is survived by the love of his life, his wife Rebecca Briggs Chapman Carr, his 5 children: Dr. Hobart Carr, Joanna (Brandon) Ferman, Elisabeth (Lake) Graboski, Warren (Vanessa) Carr, Thomas (Zoe) Carr, 2 stepchildren, Ryan (Niki) Chapman and Michael (Meghann) Chapman, 3 grandchildren, Graham Carr, Grace Carr and Carson Ferman and 4 step grandchildren, Cole Chapman, Cali Chapman, Cayla Chapman and Dylan Chapman, a brother, Dennis (Gloria) Carr.
