Leslie O. Whitling age 73 of Russell, PA passed away peacefully at St Vincent hospital in Erie December 23, 2017. He was born in Parker, PA on September 2, 1944. Son of the late Harry E. and Irene J. (Kriebel) Whitling of Emlenton, PA. He leaves behind his wife of 52 years Constance M. (Shaulis) Whitling whom he married in Pittsburgh, PA May the 28th of 1965. He also leaves behind 2 children, a son Brett Whitling and his fiance Kristen Danielson and a daughter Kristin R. Hughan and her companion Shane Holt, 4 grandchildren, Kayla (Whitling) and Doug Brown, Michael Whitling, Ashlynne Hughan and Wyatt Hughan. He also had 2 great grandchildren Raegan Brown and Annabelle Hughan. He is survived by 2 sisters Bonnie K. Greer and husband Michael of Culver City, CA and Valerie J. Wetzel and husband Richard of Ocala, FL and one brother Arlie G. Whitling of Emlenton, PA. Two sisters-in-law Sharon Ross of Bradenton, FL. and Helen Whitling of Seneca, PA as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was proceeded in death in addition to his parents by his brother Larry E. Whitling. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather.
He served in the Navy 1963 1967. He was a member of the Sheffield Rod and Gun Club as well as the American Legion. During his years in Kentucky he owned his own court reporting company which he sold in 1980 prior to moving his family to Russell, PA. He bought a farm and raised animals and kids. He worked for Asplundh Tree Experts until he took a position with Warren State Hospital. He retired from Warren State Hospital in 2002. After his wife’s retirement they purchased property in Florida and spent winters there.
Prior to his illness he enjoyed hunting, fishing, golfing, bowling and playing cards with his many friends.
There will be no funeral services or visitation at this time per his wishes. The family will be holding a Celebration of Life gathering at a future date.
