Gerald Abbott

Gerald Robert Abbott, 93, of Cobham Park Road, Warren, died on Tuesday, January 9, at his home. Gerald was born November 29, 1924, in Bradford, PA. He is the son of the late Thomas and Anna (Russell) Abbott.

Growing up in Bradford, he was a 1942 graduate of Bradford High School. He then enlisted in the US Army. Following discharge from the army he went on to receive his Bachelor of Science degree at St. Bonaventure. Gerald was the Owner/Operator of Chamberlain Sales for close to fifty years.

He was a member of the American Legion Post 135, for 30 years. Among the many things Gerald enjoyed were riding his four-wheeler and his John Deere mower, fishing trips to Canada, the family cottage on Chautauqua Lake, and just going for a ride. For many years, he looked forward to camping at the Warren County Fair. He especially loved and enjoyed his family.

He is survived by his wife, Maxine Himes Abbott; three daughters, Carol Haley, and husband, Randy, of Clarendon, Linda Johnson, and husband, Mark, of Scandia, and Susan Giltinan, of Bemus Point, NY; four grandsons, Tyler Abbott, Caleb Johnson, Travis Johnson, and Kelly Giltinan; four great-grandchildren, Cole Sterling, Brookelynne Sterling, Mackenzie Pavolko, and Gypsie-Rose Abbott; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Gerald was preceded in death by his brother, William J. Abbott.

Friends will be received at the Peterson-Blick Funeral Home, Inc., 1003 Penn. Ave. E., Warren, Friday, January 12, for one hour prior to a memorial service to be held there at 1:00 p.m., with Fr. James Gutting, pastor, Holy Redeemer Roman Catholic Church, officiating.
