Darlene Donick, 85, nearly a lifelong resident of Sheffield, PA, died at 8 AM on December 13, 2017. She had resided the past four years at Belmont Village in Burbank, CA.
Darlene was born on May 19, 1932, to the late Eugene R. and Lilly V. Cochran Rodgers. She graduated from Sheffield High School. She retired from the National Forge Company and then owned Bowlaway Lanes for 13 years. She was a member of St Michael’s Byzantine Catholic Church. She loved spending time with her family and friends, polka dancing and travelling.
Darlene is survived by her daughter, Laurie Donick Braine (John) of CA, grandchildren Katherine Braine Burkhart (Michael) of OK, Anne Braine of VA, Allison Braine of CA, and Jeffrey Braine of CA and greatgrandchildren Ana Burkhart of OK and Colin Burkhart of OK, and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her brother Eugene F. Rodgers and her sister Carol Rodgers Schreiber (Richard), as well as her husband, James Donick, whom she married in Sheffield, Pa., on Nov. 18, 1961.
Calling hours will be on Thursday, December 21, 2017, from 3 PM to 6 PM at Borden Funeral Home in Sheffield.
A Divine Liturgy will be held on Friday, December 22, 2017, at 10:00 AM, at St. Michael’s Byzantine Catholic Church in Sheffield.
The family suggests memorial donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
