Charles Jewell, 86, of Matthews Run Rd., Youngsville, passed away on Saturday November 11, 2017 at UPMC Hamot in Erie.
Charles was born June 6, 1931 in Youngsville, a son to the late Charles and Velma (Ellis) Jewell. He served in the US Army during the Korean War attaining the rank of Sergeant. He also served a year in Germany. He was retired from the National Forge Co. where he had worked as a machine welder on pipe molds. He also ran Jewells Cycle Shop of his residence for many years. He enjoyed cars, motorcycles and spending time with his family.
He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Joan (Joanne) Jewell, whom he married October 26, 1957 in Clarendon, his children, Charles (Pamela) Jewell III of Erie, Thomas Jewell of Ashville, N.Y., Diane (Randall) Hartson of Frewsberg, N.Y., Mary Jewell of Warren and Dale (Lisa) Jewell of Youngsville, 7 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, 2 sisters, Doris Vicini of Clarendon and Shirley Thomas of Casper, WY, and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Arnold Jewell, and 2 sisters, Florence Armstrong and Maxine Newman.
A mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday at 11 am at St. Luke’s Roman Catholic Church in Youngsville. Rev. Fr. Jim Gutting, pastor of the Holy Redeemer R.C. in Warren will serve as Celebrant. Friends will be received an hour before in the church. Burial will follow in St. Joseph’s Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family suggest memorial donations may be made to a charity of choice.
