John E. Scherpf, age 93, of Tidioute, PA, passed away, March 17, 2017, in his sleep. He was born October 26, 1923, to the late Anna and Florian Scherpf, Sr. He was a member of St. John’s Catholic Church; the VFW and the FOE. He was a W.W. II Army Air Corp Veteran. As a Sgt. he served as a communications specialist encoding and decoding classified messages in the European Theater.
John was a loving father and faithful husband to Philomina and Beatrice Scherpf. He took care of both through their illnesses, which was a testimony of his love and devotion to his soul mates. John taught us about hard work, character and commitment to marriage vows. He was admired and loved by all that knew him.
His passions in life were hunting and golfing. He will be missed by all ~ but is in heaven with his loves.
In addition to his parents, and his wives, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Faye E. Raspotnik; his brother, Florian Scherpf, Jr.; sister, Jean Graber. He is survived by his sons, Florian J. Scherpf and Joseph Scherpf; his brother, Denny Scherpff; his soninlaw, Bart Raspotnik; and numerous grandchildren.
The family will receive friends noon to 1 p.m. (1 hour prior to Mass), Thursday, March 23, 2017, at St. John’s Catholic Church, 25 1st St, Tidioute, PA, where Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 1 p.m., with Fr. Joseph J. Kalinowski, Celebrant. Burial will be at St. John’s Cemetery. Dalton Funeral Home, Germantown, OH, serving the family.
