Frank Christy

C. Frank Christy, 92, passed away peacefully Thursday morning at the place of his birth, the Christy Family Farm in North Washington, PA, surrounded by loving family and favorite dog.

Frank was born on November 2, 1924, at home to the late Claude and Sara Christy.

Frank served in the Third Infantry Regiment in the European Theater of Operations during the latter stages of WWII and the subsequent Allied Occupation of Germany. Frank earned his high school diploma at Karns City High School, Bachelors of Science at Clarion College, and his Masters of Education at the University of Pittsburgh. Following his service in the Army and completing college, Frank began a career in education as a Teacher and Guidance Counselor in Bruin and Karns City, PA, Supervising Principal in Sheffield, PA, and Director of Pupil Personnel Services for the Warren County School District. In 1987, the Christy Technology Center was named for him in recognition of his foresight in technology education. In addition, Frank spent many evenings ensuring students were able to attain their GED certifications. Frank was also a past President of the Sheffield and Warren Rotary Clubs and a longterm member of the Conewango Valley Country Club.

Frank is survived by his daughter, Claudia Christy of Chapel Hill, N.C.; son, Douglas Christy of Petrolia, PA; son, Roger and daughterinlaw, Patricia Christy, of Danville, California, and numerous nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.

Frank was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 61 years, Ruth; his parents, and siblings, Louie, Frances, Glenn, Jenny, and Will.

A memorial service will be scheduled for the Spring.

The family would like to thank the staff of Visiting Nurses Association of Western Pennsylvania and the hospital staff of the Butler Health System for their professional care and kindness given to Frank and to the entire family. Frank was a loving husband, father, uncle, educator, farmer, storyteller, avid golfer, and a consummate gentleman.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations to the Salvation Army of Warren, PA, the Ruth M. Smith Center in Sheffield, PA, or Family Services of Warren County.
