Betty J. Kier Elicker

Betty J. Kier Elicker, 91, formerly of Russell, died Sunday, February 19, 2017, at the Bradford Manor. Betty was born February 4, 1926 in Pittsburgh, PA. She is the daughter of the late William and Flossie (Weaver) Kier.

Betty was a graduate of Penn Hills High School. She had worked in many capacities–but her priority in life was taking care of her family. She was gentle, but tough when she had to be, and was the most supportive mother that anyone could ever wish to have. For the many years during her husband’s military career, she acted as an anchor in her family and raised her children on her own. Betty was a member of the North Warren Presbyterian Church, the Circle 8 Square Dancing Group, and the Blueberry Golf Course. She loved to read, and loved people. She will be remembered for her great sense of humor, her gentleness and her companionship. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her love.

She is survived by one son, H. Kreig Elicker, of Russell; one sister, Joann Rusnak, of Pittsburgh; three grandchildren, Michelle Anderson, of Luton, England, Kurtis Elicker, of Warren, and Kiera Elicker, of Olean, NY; one greatgrandchild, Killian Anderson, and one greatgrandchild on the way. She is also survived by her lifelong friend, Mitzi Kristy, and her children Karen and Debbie.

In addition to her parents, Betty was preceded in death on January 19, 2014, by her husband, Howard Glen Elicker, whom she married August 25,1948; her son, H. Kirk Elicker, on June 27, 2014; and six brothers, Lyle, Jim, Jack, Chuck, Sam and Bucky Kier.

Friends will be received at the Peterson-Blick Funeral Home, Inc. 1003 Penn. Ave. E., Warren, on Thursday, February 23, from 6 to 8 p.m., and at the North Warren Presbyterian Church, 200 S State St, North Warren, on Friday, February 24, from 10:30 to 11 a.m., at which time a funeral service will be held there with The Rev. Burfoot S. “Buddy” Ward, III, officiating.

Burial will be in Sheffield Cemetery.
