Paul Mahan

A funeral service for Paul R. Mahan, who died on Friday, July 8, was held at the First Church of God on Monday, July 11. Rev. Bill Hargenrader and Rev. Dave Hart, coofficiated. Military honors were provided by members of the Youngsville American Legion Honor Guard at Foster Cemetery, Lander, PA. Members of the Barbershop Harmony Society served as pallbearers. The Peterson-Blick Funeral Home, Inc. was entrusted with arrangements.

Paul Mahan

Paul R. Mahan, 84, of Warren, passed away on July 8, 2016 at the John and Orpha Blair Hospice House.

A lifelong Warren resident, Paul was born October 31, 1931 at home in Lander, PA, the son of the late Robert and Gertrude Parker Mahan. He was a 1949 graduate of Warren High School and then served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War, having spent time in Morocco, North Africa. He sold automobiles for many years at Mahan Motors. He also sold cars at Wigger’s Chevrolet for a short time.

He and his wife Betty are members of the First Church of God, Warren. Paul was well known for having a beautiful voice, and sang in the choir for many years; he sang many solos, duets, and trios. He was a fiftyseven year member of the Barbershop Harmony Society, formerly known as the S.P.E.B.S.Q.S.A. In addition to his love for music and singing, Paul especially loved his wife and family, and will be deeply missed by many.

Paul is survived by his wife of sixtyfive years, Betty R. Reynolds Mahan, whom he married on June 2, 1951; three sons, Robert Mahan, and his wife Julia, of Warren, PA, and Jeffery Mahan, and his wife Molly, of Oneonta, NY, and Larry Mahan, of Canton, OH; eight grandchildren, James Mahan, and wife Crystal, Tara Mahan Thomas, and husband John, Leah Mahan Newton, and husband Rob, Michael Mahan, and wife Tammy, Kristen Mahan Lautanan, and husband Matt, Maggie Mahan, Jamie Mahan, and wife Kenzie, and Sara Mahan ShieldLynch, and husband; two stepgrandchildren, Wayne Goulet and Eva Goulet William, and husband John; ten greatgrandchildren, plus two on the way; several nieces and nephews; and many friends.

In addition to his parents, Paul was preceded in death by two brothers, Gordon and Emory Mahan.

Friends will be received at the Peterson-Blick Funeral Home, Inc., 1003 Penna. Ave. E. Warren, PA, 16365, on Sunday July 10, from 6 to 8 p.m. and at the First Church of God 1111 Madison Ave. Warren, PA for one hour prior to a funeral service to be held there on Monday, July 11, at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Bill Hargenrader, pastor, and Rev. Dave Hart., coofficiating.

Burial will follow in the Foster Cemetery, Lander, PA, with full military honors provided by the Youngsville American Legion Honor Guard.
