Paving set for PA Ave Tuesday
Part of the parade route will have a smooth ride as a result of paving set for next Tuesday on Pennsylvania Ave. E.
Department of Public Works Director Mike Holtz said that Glenn O. Hawbaker, Inc., the contractor on the project, will be paving Pennsylvania Ave. E. next week from Carver St. to the bridge over the Conewango Ave. on Pennsylvania Ave.
“(They) want to pave the majority of the parade route,” Holtz said. “They think they can do it all in one day on Tuesday.”
He explained that the paving will be completed one lane at a time meaning that traffic will be restricted to one lane throughout the day.
A “scratch coat” of asphalt was applied after the milling was completed back in April from the bridge over the Conewango all the way to the Glade Bridge on the east end.
That coat remains while crews work on handicap ramps, manholes and other repairs.
The rest of the top coat will still be potentially a couple months away.
“PennDOT has not yet begun the ADA ramps,” Holtz said, speculating that it will be “late August before it’s all done.”
