McKean man faces assault allegations

A McKean County man has been charged with aggravated assault following an alleged incident at Warren County jail and Warren General Hospital.

Robert J. Yount, 49, of Rixford, is charged with aggravated assault, resisting arrest, simple assault, disorderly conduct, and harassment.

According to City of Warren Police, officers were transporting Yount from Warren County jail to Warren General Hospital at approximately 10:30 p.m., Friday May 3.

“Due to the defendant attempting to re-adjust his handcuffs to the front of his body, (police) had to re-adjust the defendant’s handcuffs,” police said in the affidavit of probable cause. Yount then pulled away from officers, resisting their attempts to handcuff him.

At the hospital, Yount “continuously yelled… bringing alarm to hospital staff,” according to police. “Due to the defendant’s behavior at Warren General Hospital, the defendant was placed in restraints, during which he attempted to kick, head butt, bite, and punch City of Warren police officers.”

Yount was arraigned by District Justice Daniel Miller, and was taken to Warren County jail after failing to post $25,000 bail.
