Sheffield man faces assault charges

A Sheffield man faces sexual assault charges after he allegedly had sex twice with a 13-year-old girl.

Tyler J. Ordiway, 19, of Sheffield, is charged with involuntary deviate sexual intercourse — person less than 16 years of age; two counts of unlawful contact with a minor — sexual offenses; statutory sexual assault — four to eight years older; four counts of corruption of minors; and two counts of indecent assault — less than 16 years of age.

According to Pennsylvania State Police, Ordiway contacted a girl who was spending the night at his home on Dec. 22, 2018, asking her to meet him in the bathroom. Police said the girl met Ordiway and had sex with him.

Police said in the affidavit of probable cause that the girl spent the night again in January and agreed to meet Ordiway again. She reportedly told police she performed oral sex on him in his bedroom.

According to police, Ordiway admitted to having sex with the girl, but denied having oral sex with her. Police said Ordiway said he did not know the girl was 13, “stating he thought she was older.”

Ordiway was arraigned at 8 p.m. Sunday, April 21, before District Justice Laura Bauer, and taken to Warren County jail after failing to post $25,000 bail.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for 2 p.m. Wednesday, May 1.
