A Warren man on state parole was arrested following a traffic stop Tuesday morning on Crescent Park.

Lugene H. Sturdevant, 31, of 1512 Pennsylvania Ave. E., Warren, was charged with two counts of possession of a controlled substance; two counts of small amount of marijuana; and possession of drug paraphernalia.

According to Warren County Sheriff’s Deputies, Sturdevant was a passenger in a truck driven by Trevor Menteer, of Ludlow, when the vehicle was pulled over shortly before 10:30 a.m.

The deputies, school resource officers en route from one school to another, saw the vehicle and “made a traffic stop on a vehicle… that we are familiar with… as the operator does not possess a valid Pennsylvania driver’s license,” according to the affidavit of probable cause.

Deputies saw drug paraphernalia in plain view inside the truck, according to the affidavit. Sturdevant told deputies some of the containers in the vehicle were his.

After further testing, substances found in the vehicle tested positive for marijuana, methamphetamine, and bath salts, according to the affidavit.

Sturdevant is on state parole, according to deputies.

He was arraigned before District Justice Ray Zydonik and taken to Warren County jail after failing to post $25,000 bail.

State parole and City of Warren Police assisted at the scene.
