Menteer, 39, of Ludlow, when he was stopped by Warren County Sheriff’s Deputies for driving with a suspended license on his way to court Jan. 8 for a preliminary hearing on previous drug charges.

Showing up to court high will result in a short stay in jail for contempt.

Getting caught driving to court high, and on a suspended license, will result in serious additional charges.

On his way to Warren County court on Tuesday, Jan. 8, on charges of dealing methamphetamine, Trevor S. Menteer, 39, of Ludlow, whose drivers license is suspended, was pulled over and charged with DUI — drugs, possession of controlled substances, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Two Warren County Sheriff’s deputies, school resource officers on their way from one school to another, recognized Menteer’s vehicle in Starbrick. After confirming the license plate was registered to Menteer, who they knew, according to the affidavit of probable cause, had a suspended license, deputies stopped the vehicle in the City of Warren.

Menteer was driving. Lugene Sturdevant, 31, of Warren, was a passenger in the vehicle.

Deputies spoke with Menteer. “During conversation with Menteer, he was very restless, anxious, could not sit still in the vehicle, and had dilated pupils,” according to the affidavit. “While in conversation with Menteer, he kept sliding a jacket over a small black box that was located in the middle of the front bench seat of the truck.”

When deputies asked him about it, Menteer said, “it’s not my box. That’s not mine,” according to the affidavit. Then he said, “Well why don’t we open it?” When he did, deputies saw drug paraphernalia inside.

At the time of the Jan. 8 stop, Menteer was on his way to Warren County Courthouse, according to deputies.

He was scheduled for a preliminary hearing at 11 a.m. that day on a charge of possession with intent to deliver, 16 counts of criminal use of a communications facility, possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, and driving while operating privilege suspended or revoked.

According to the affidavit related to those charges, police said Menteer had arranged to sell methamphetamine to an undercover officer. He was arrested at the time and location arranged, and, according to police, had about 4.5 grams of methamphetamine with him.

He was released after posting $10,000 bail.

As a result of the stop, Menteer’s bail was revoked and he faces additional charges, including three counts of DUI — controlled substance; three summary driving offenses; possession of a controlled substance; and four counts of possession of drug paraphernalia.
