Exploring introduces youth to law enforcement training

For young people interested in pursuing a career in law enforcement, there may be no better place to start than an Explorer Post.

“Law Enforcement Exploring is the preeminent career orientation and experience program for young people considering a career in law enforcement or a related field,” City of Warren Police Patrolman and Explorer Advisor Tiffany Dyke said.

Exploring welcomes 14- through 21-year-olds and offers “a personal awareness of the criminal justice system through training, practical experience, competition, and other activities,” Dyke said. “Additionally, the program promotes personal growth through character development, physical fitness, good citizenship, and patriotism.”

In order to introduce interested Warren County youth to Exploring, there will be an open house and orientation at 3 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 2, at the City of Warren Police Department at 318 W. Third Avenue.

“Orientation Night is a chance for you and your parents to learn about Law Enforcement Exploring,” Dyke said. “The application process is explained in detail and the expectations of a Police Explorer are discussed. It is our hope that no question goes unanswered at the conclusion of our meeting.”

Applications are provided at the end of the meeting.

“We want you to fully understand what the Explorer Post can do for you and what we expect of our members,” she said.

The program is open to any high school student in Warren County. Those under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

Those interested in attending should RSVP to Dyke at tdyke@police.cityofwarrenpa.gov.
