District Spelling Bee Feb. 7

The successful navigation of tribulations by last year’s competitors was commendable, but there will be new challenges at this year’s Warren County Spelling Bee.

The Times Observer and Northwest Bank are the co-sponsors for the 2019 bee. The event will be held at 9 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 7, at Beaty-Warren Middle School in Warren.

Students up to and including eighth-graders are eligible.

The county event will feature champions from school-level bees from all over the county. Some of those contests have already been held. Tidioute Community Charter School’s champs are ready to go. The school held its bee on Dec. 19. Eisenhower Middle School’s contest has also concluded. Students at Eisenhower Elementary and Sheffield elementary and middle schools will have their contests on Thursday, Jan. 17. Beaty will hold its school bee on Jan. 22. Bees at Youngsville Elementary Middle School, Warren County Christian School, and St. Joseph Catholic School are set for Jan. 23.

On Feb. 7, the winners will gather at Beaty and step up to the microphone one-by-one, until a county champion is crowned.
