A Youngsville man was arrested Monday and charged with two felony counts of strangulation.

According to Youngsville Borough Police, Michael McGuire, 31, of Youngsville, assaulted a woman at about 3:45 p.m. Monday.

Police said McGuire punched and kicked the woman several times, then choked her and tried to cover her mouth with duct tape. According to the affidavit of probable cause, the victim said the tape did not stick.

She told police McGuire punched her in the head and face, and that she is pregnant and he kicked her in the stomach “about five times,” according to the affidavit.

The victim was taken to Warren General Hospital for evaluation.

“She also stated he dumped honey over her head and cut her jacket with scissors,” police wrote.

According to police, McGuire admitted to pouring honey over her head and cutting the jacket, but denied all of the other actions.

In addition to two counts of strangulation, McGuire was charged with simple assault and harassment.

He was taken to Warren County jail after failing to post $55,000 bail.
