School board ‘planning for’ music task force

Earlier this year, the school board discussed the possibility of combining the dwindling marching bands throughout Warren County School District.

That idea met with resistance. So, the board decided to study how it could make music programs stronger and more viable –possibly including consolidation. But, board members and administrators wanted to give the athletics task force, created for much the same reasons, time to work.

The effort to study music was set aside but is now ready to begin.

“We are in the early stages of planning for the music task force,” Supervisor of Secondary Education Eric Mineweaser said. “We’re going to begin forming our music task force team, hopefully having a meeting in the first week in January.”

He said the principals and music teachers will be involved in creating the task force. He said the group would include two community members. Those two have not been selected. Anyone interested in serving on that task force is asked to contact the high school principal in their attendance area.
