Team will serve as grand marshal of Christmas parade

The members of the state-finalist Warren Area High School Dragons volleyball team will be the grand marshals of the annual Warren County Christmas Parade.

The choice to ask the team to be grand marshal was an easy one for the Times Observer, which sponsors the parade with the Warren County Chamber of Business and Industry (WCCBI).

The team brought the community together for its legendary 22-and-1 run through the District 10 title to the state championship game on Saturday at Cumberland Valley High School in Mechanicsburg.

“The players are extremely honored and excited to participate in and be grand marshals of the parade,” Warren head coach Mike Dolan said. “Even though the entire experience has not sunk in yet, they’re overwhelmed by the support from the entire community. They feel so grateful for everyone who was out there rooting for them and supporting them in so many ways and love the opportunity to let the community share in their journey one more time.”

Following the parade, the team will become part of the Downtown Warren Christmas Walk on Liberty Street.

“They can’t wait to meet everyone and hand out cookies and hot chocolate after the parade,” Dolan said.

The Dragons will ride on and walk with the trolley at the front of the parade which will begin at 6:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 7, at the Market St. and Pennsylvania Ave. intersection traveling west.

Entities interested in participating in the parade must complete an entry form and return it to the Times Observer by Tuesday, Dec. 4.
