Allegheny National Forest winter photo contest accepting entries

Photo submitted for publication Skiing on the Kinzua River Valley Rail Trail.

It’s easy to find good photographic subject matter when the target is the Allegheny National Forest in winter.

The Allegheny National Forest Visitor Center of McKean County is holding a photo contest.

“From holiday events, skiing, snowmobiling, to hiking in the crisp, snow-covered forest — winter is a favorite season for many,” a release from the ANFVB said. “We are looking for winter photos captured in the Allegheny National Forest region. We want to see your photos of snow-covered scenery or people playing in the great outdoors.”

The visitors bureau will award prizes for the best photos — a $100 Visa gift card for first place, $50 Visa gift cards for two second place photos, and $25 gift cards for three third place photos.

The contest begins Dec. 1 and runs through March 31.

Entries may be emailed in JPEG format to info@visitanf.com or mailed in electronic form to the visitors bureau at P.O. Box 371, Bradford, 16701.

Entries must include the photographer’s name and address and the location the photo was taken.

If there are people in the photos, a model release form for each pictured person must accompany the entry.

Images submitted, whether they are chosen among the winners or not, become the property of the visitors bureau.

The winning photos will be put on display in the Visitors Bureau Welcome Center on Corydon Street.
