RDA removes 3 properties

Three properties were removed from the Warren County Redevelopment Authority’s docket during Wednesday’s meeting.

The first is owned by Key Bank and is located at 15 Center Street in Clarendon.

County Planner Dan Glotz said he has been in communication with a mortgage services company on this property regarding various improvements that have been completed.

He said that it is his belief that borough council wants the property re-connected to the sewer system before it is deemed not blighted.

“They seem to be cooperating with us very nicely,” Authority Chairman Chuck Barone said.

He noted that the blighted conditions have been corrected except for utilities, which he said are just a “tool we can use to declare it blighted.”

The 61 Second Mill Street property in Sheffield owned by John S. Hilyer was also removed.

“He made an effort to come in this morning,” Authority member Joe Scully said. “Dan (Glotz) said he is making progress which we all know he is. He is very sincere. (I have) no problem removing it.”

Glotz said the electricity has been turned back on, as well.

The final property removed is located at 15 1/2 Tan St., Sheffield, and owned by John Whipple and Jessica Camp.

Glotz said the owner called a few days ago and said the house is occupied, the electric is on and that he has been working on the inside.

“If it’s occupied, it’s no longer blighted,” Authority member Pam Matve said.
