Early Intervention Report preview
The Early Intervention Report presented to the Warren County Commissioners is lengthy. In fact, it’s far to lengthy – and too important to the future of the county – to be encapsulated in one story. Deeper analysis of the report will be featured in the Times Observer throughout the rest of the week:
¯ Wednesday: Topics will include reported accounting deficiencies, problems with the 2018 budget as well as demographic data and lessons that can be gleaned from that data.
¯ Thursday: We’ll look at the financial condition of the county – tax capabilities, future financial projections, the sharing of fiscal information throughout the courthouse as well as the uncomfortable topic of reassessment.
¯ Friday: The report identifies several areas in which the commissioners are called to exhibit greater oversight – local matches, department budgets, developing reserve funds and capital planning. We’ll also look at fees for county services as well as personnel/policy issues that were raised in the report.
¯ Saturday: Each department was analyzed by the firm and we’ll explore those recommendations as well as how the report can be implemented over the next five years.
