Corry man sentenced for ‘blackmailing’ 14-year-old into sex

A Corry man received a county sentence for “blackmailing” a 14-year-old girl into having sex with him.

Jacob Almon Foster, 19, was sentenced to a total of nine to 18 months in the Warren County Jail for charges of statutory sexual assault and corruption of minors, to which he pled guilty in August.

The charges stem from five separate occasions on which Foster engaged in sexual contact with the girl, whose family had taken Foster in when he needed a place to stay. Foster told police after charges were brought in May of this year that he “had begun a sexual relationship” with the juvenile “prior to him moving into her house,” which occurred in March or April of this year according to the affidavit of probable cause.

Foster told police that he moved into the girl’s home “with the consent of (her) parents after quitting school,” and would contact her “very late at night” via social media to request “some type of sexual contact.” Foster admitted to giving the girl cigarettes in exchange for hugs and kisses and engaged in other sexual contacts with the girl knowing that it was illegal. During his interview, he told police “I am a sex addict.”

He has since changed his mind on that, telling Judge Maureen Skerda during Friday morning’s sentencing court that he “did not mean that exactly.” Foster told Skerda that he has used sex in the past to mitigate symptoms of anxiety and stress, but that he does not believe that is is a true addict.

Skerda said that, without a victim impact statement, it was difficult to ascertain the exact effect of Foster’s actions toward the victim, but she did tell him Friday that he “took advantage of a situation where you were homeless” and the girls’ family too him in. “You betrayed their trust,” Skerda said before handing down Foster’s sentence.

In addition to jail and probation, Foster was ordered to undergo sexual offender treatment and will be required to register as a Tier 1 sexual offender on the Pennsylvania Megan’s Law website for a mandatory period of 15 years. He was ordered to have no contact with his victim or her family.
