Warren County chooses new fiscal director

Warren County expects to soon have a new fiscal director.

At the salary board meeting on Monday, board members approved a salary of $60,000 and a benefits package of $24,130.56. They also approved an applicant — Eric Hearn.

The next step is for the county to make a formal offer to Hearn.

The board set salaries for two other positions and hopes to fill them soon.

The new Chief Juvenile Probation Officer will be paid $55,000.

The current chief, Jon Gerarde, is retiring. “We have been searching for a replacement,” Commissioner Cindy Morrison said.

The assistant public defender will receive $43,300. The county has an applicant in mind and a projected start date of Aug. 1. Once the applicant passed the Bar Exam, the salary will go up to $45,300.

“We’ve been looking to fill this position for a while now,” Morrison said.

The salaries and benefits for new positions and non-union positions are set by the salary board, according to Chief Clerk Pam Matve. Hires for established union positions are ratified by the commissioners at a regular meeting.
