WAHS to hold lockdown drill

There will be a lockdown drill at Warren Area High School at 10:30 a.m. Thursday.

Supervisor of Quality Assurance Boyd Freeborough said the drill will instruct students in how to keep themselves safe in the event of an intruder in the school and goes along with ALICE (Alert, Lockdown, Inform, Counter, Evacuate).

Teachers will talk to their students about how they might effectively barricade their room.

Instruction will include when students should evacuate, looking for alternative exits, where to go and what to do if they do leave the building, and how to respond to some particular situations.

Students will not be authorized to evacuate on Thursday. There will be several law enforcement vehicles at the school on Thursday, Freeborough said.

All students will be notified and the call blast system will be used to notify families of the drill.
