WAEC earns chance to host bestselling author
Jan Brett will be in Warren on Tuesday morning.
Warren Area Elementary Center was one of two schools that won out in a heated competition online between thousands of schools across the country, in Canada, and worldwide. The contest collected votes to see which school most wanted a visit from the children’s author, known for her illustrations and stories of memorable characters in extraordinary circumstances.
This is the 10th year that the contest has run, said publicist Rhalee Hughes, and the first time there has ever been a tie. Warren Area Elementary Center tied with Robious Elementary in Midlothian, Va.
Brett will be at WAEC Tuesday at 8:15 a.m. for a private drawing demonstration and presentation to K through fourth grade students. She will also be visiting classes.
Brett is the author of over 35 children’s books well-known for their illustrations, and has sold over 40 million copies worldwide. She is a New York Times #1 bestselling author and illustrator, and lives in Norwell, Ma.
