Easter break varies for local schools

Easter break this year is something of an April Fool’s joke on education transportation providers in Warren County.

There are four different schedules in play for the next week.

Warren County School District will have school on Thursday, will be off Friday and Monday, and will come back on Tuesday.

Tidioute Community Charter School has a professional development day for teachers on tap for Thursday, and no school on Friday, but will be back on Monday.

St. Joseph Catholic School has no school on Friday, is off all next week, and returns to normal operation on Monday, April 9.

Warren County Christian School is off Friday, Monday, and Tuesday.

“The Warren County School District does encourage non-public schools to follow our calendar as closely as possible for transportation and cost efficiencies,” Warren County School District Transportation Manager Mike Kiehl said. “The transportation department has taken steps to decrease the number of vehicles that overlap between public and non-public schools.”

Easter and April Fool’s

Because the date of Easter each year is determined in a way that is more complicated than most holidays’, it can fall infrequently on April Fool’s Day.

Easter falls on the first Sunday after the first full moon on or after the vernal equinox — first day of spring. The full range is from March 22 to April 25.

Easter hasn’t fallen on April Fool’s Day since 1956.

The dates will get together again in 2029 and 2040. Then there will be a gap until 2108.
