Accused murderer ruled competent to stand trial

A Chandlers Valley man accused of murdering his wife was found competent Thursday to stand trial.

Matthew B. White, 35, further requested that his counsel be discharged and that he be allowed to represent himself in the case moving forward.

White is accused of shooting his wife, Jessica L. White, four times, killing her, at their Chandlers Valley Home in June, 2017.

Thursday’s competency hearing was closed to the public due to the confidential nature of the information being discussed.

A hearing on White’s motions is scheduled for 11 a.m. Tuesday, March 20.

A calendar call for scheduling a trial has been on the calendar for Monday, March 26.
