Chorus groups add unique twist to Valentine’s Day celebrations

Romance was in the air on Wednesday.

The Conewango Clippers and the Chautauqua Shores serenaded sweethearts around the county in celebration of Valentines Day.

Cindy Zingone was the subject of one of the Clippers’ stops Wednesday morning.

Shortly before 9 a.m., she was called into her boss’ office and told to wait.

The resulting visit was better than receiving a reprimand.

Eight men in matching outfits walked in, presented some gifts to Zingone, and harmonized three songs — Let Me Call You Sweetheart, Sweet and Lovely, and Heart of My Heart.

“It was a big surprise,” Zingone said. “It was wonderful.”

She knew the men in the red vests and bow ties performed singing Valentines, but she did not expect one.

“I had never seen it done before,” she said.

Just in case, the Clippers told her the serenade was courtesy of John.

Cindy and John will celebrate their 12th wedding anniversary on Sunday.

The Chautauqua Shores Chorus did six sing-outs through the day, with a couple of encore stops.

At Warren Manor, the group performed for Jean Bowley, who repeatedly thanked them. On their way out, the Shores sang again in the activity room for a group of about 15 people.

They sang Cuddle Up, Let Me Call You Sweetheart, and Somebody Loves You.

Both groups presented roses to their target audiences.
