Youngsville man accused of felony strangulation
A Youngsville man faces a felony strangulation charge after allegedly putting a woman in a choke hold.
Bruce W. Barr, 29, faces charges of strangulation, simple assault, and two counts of harassment.
According to Pennsylvania State Police and Youngsville Borough Police, police responded to a report of a dispute shortly before 5 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 14.
Police said the alleged victim said she was involved in an argument with Barr when he raised a closed fist as if to punch her. She told police he did not hit her, but the dispute continued. Police said the victim said Barr wrapped his arm around her throat “in a choke hold” and lowered her to the floor while maintaining the hold.
Police said she “broke free and called 911,” according to the affidavit of probable cause.
Barr was arraigned before District Justice Todd Woodin and taken to Warren County jail after failing to post $25,000 bail.
