Warren man jailed in Chautauqua Co.

A Warren man is in Chautauqua County, N.Y., jail Monday after allegedly driving his vehicle over the legs of a woman Sunday afternoon.

According to Town of Ellicott (N.Y.) Police, Shawn L. Arnold, 38, of Warren, ran over a woman who had a valid order of protection against him.

Police responded to a report that a woman had been struck by a car in Falconer, N.Y., at about 4:30 p.m.

The 38-year-old woman was treated at the scene for serious injuries to her legs and flown to UPMC Hamot in Erie for further treatment, police said.

According to police, Arnold and the woman had been involved in a domestic dispute. Police said the woman tried to get into Arnold’s vehicle when “Arnold then backed up, dragging her a short distance.”

“She fell to the ground and Arnold ran over her legs with his vehicle,” police said in a release.

Arnold left the scene, according to police, and was later located, arrested, and charged with felony reckless endangerment, and felony aggravated criminal contempt.

Arnold was taken to Chautauqua County jail and held without bail.

Town of Ellicott Police were assisted by New York State Police, Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office, and Falconer Fire Department at the scene.
