Beaty hopes to bring in former WWE/WCW star

Beaty-Warren Middle School and local businesses are working together to bring in former WCW and WWE Wrestling Champion turned anti-bullying advocate Marc Mero to speak to students.

“Mrs. Alicia Gatto (a BWMS parent) is working with Beaty-Warren Middle School, the PTO and local businesses to bring Marc Mero to Warren to present two assemblies to our students on December 21, 2017,” said BWMS Principal Shannon Yaeger. “Marc Mero’s presentation will address the issues of bullying, suicide prevention, substance abuse, goal setting, dreaming big, making positive choices and achieving your highest potential.”

Mero’s “Time is Now!” Tour has been labeled as America’s most sought-after Middle/High school presentation. Mero has presented to more than 1,600 schools; reaching more than 750,000 students, parents and educators.

In order to bring Mero to Warren, a fundraising page has been started. If you wish to donate or view previous presentations by Mero, you can visit the page at

A goal of $4,000 has been set on the page. As of Thursday evening, over $1,500 had already been raised.

“As a native of Warren and a mother of four young children, I am concerned and saddened about the growing drug epidemic, as well as the bullying that takes place in our community,” Gatto said on the page. “With your help, we can bring him here to inspire and motivate them. Please consider donating to Beaty’s PTO to bring Marc Mero here on December 21 to speak to our youth. It is our hope that we can raise the funds to cover the cost of two assemblies and any additional funds will be used for follow up support & resources.”

Local businesses are welcome and encouraged to sponsor this event. Cash or check donations are also welcome. Checks can be made payable to Beaty Warren Middle School PTO Re: Champion of Choices, 2 Third Avenue, Warren, PA 16365.
