Bear Lake to receive most CDBG funding
The bulk of Warren County’s 2017 Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) allocation will be going to Bear Lake.
Bear Lake Borough Council applied for CDBG funding for a stormwater system improvement project.
The project will improve 1,400 linear feet of the borough’s system along Center Street south of Greeley Street.
The county solicited projects that would benefit low- to moderate-income residents, according to Planning Director Dan Glotz. “The project in Bear Lake Borough does indeed qualify for this funding.”
Of the $225,000 allocation, $184,500 will go to the project.
Glotz said money leftover from previous years could be applied to the project if it goes over the projected cost. And, if the project comes in under budget, leftover funds could be used in the future.
The county is allowed to apply up to 18 percent of its allocation to administration — including salary of the administrator, advertising costs, the preparation of documents, and others.
The county designated $40,500 — exactly 18 percent of the full allocation — for administration.
The county commissioners unanimously approved the distribution.
